Replacement of tone arm bearings in Lenco L75 arms

|
A common problem with Lenco turntables is the fragility of the tone arm bearings.
When they break the arm wont come down towards the platter
and the vertical movement is hampered.

- Remove the antiskating and counter weights
- Turn the turntable upsidedown and remove the wooden bottom, fastened with four screws. Turn the turntable around againd
- Remove the antiskating arm. Pull straight up!

- Loosen the screw at the back of the bearing housing.
- Remove the screw and the half-moon sheped washer
- You can now, carefully, lift off the top of the bearing housing, the arm will follow.
- Take care with the tone arm cables!
- You can now see the damaged bearings that have been cut through by the sharp knife edge bearings.
- Remove the damaged bearings. They are fixed with a small tap into the plastic so you may have to pry them loose with a small screw driver.
- The new ones don't have this tap, so if you want you can fix them with a drop of glue. It is usually not necessary.
- It is sometimes necessary to cut (trim) the new bearings with a razorblade to make them fit. There are small differences between different arms.
- The picture above shows the new rubber bearings in place.
- When you re-assemble the housing you must pull (carefully) the tonearm cables slightly from below
- Make sure the knifebearings are lined upp with the rubber bearings
- Put back the screw and the washer at the back of the bearing housing.
- Put back the bottom of the turntable.
- Put back all weights and the cartridge and adjust the stylus pressure.
- Put the platter back
- Play!
