Joseph's feet - not as simple as they look!

There are at least two schools of thinking when it comes to how loudspeakers and other equipment should be coupled to the outside world.

One says that loudspeakers should be put on soft, well tuned "feet". The other says that all loudspeakers must be rigidly coupled.

This is a spike for those of you who believe in the later school. It says that loudspeakers must must be absolutely stable. Otherwise there will be smudging of the image. On top of that it is a good thing if a loudspeaker's vibrations are not transferred to the floor. There are on the market an innumerable amount of spikes allegedly engineered to cope with these problems. I still couldn't find one that satisfied me. Above all they all had too large a surface in contact with the loudspeaker or the floor.

That's why I made special feet for my OA52 loudspeakers. They do look like something that was thrown together from junk parts that was laying around, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Not as simple
as they look!
I worked for over a year before the feet worked the way I wanted them to.
Stig Carlsson himself used Joseph's feet under his OA52!

The work not only as stable base for the speakers but also as a filter from the surroundings. The feet lowers the unwanted vibrations by 30 dB at 100 Hz!

Always three spikes under speakers and other equipment
There should always be three feet feet under each loudspeaker - never four! Three is more stable. If you have OA52 you should place two along the edge that is closest to the wall and one in the front were stability is best (not in the middle, but a little closer to the bass driver). If you have other speakers you should pace the feet wherever stability is best, even if this means two under the front.

The feet are primarily intended for loudspeakers placed on a carpet but can successfully be used for wooden floors (but watch out for damage, but a small coin below!).

Joseph's feet are good for turntables, CD-players and amplifiers as well
Turntables and amplifiers benefit from these feet as well, but the point should then point upwards instead of downwards. Placement is completely free here as well, but each foot should carry approximately the same weight. Don't forget the metal washer! There should always be a washer between the three small points and the loudspeaker or shelf. This gives a more stable image and cleaner bass.

The price for Joseph's Feet is 6.26 excluding VAT each including the large washer

Made on order so it may take a week or so before you get your feet.
