WBT strikes back!
 WBT revealed a whole new generation of RCA+connectors at the HiFi+show in London in the end of September!As can be seen from the pictures (click on them to enlarge) this is something completely new. A radical new design has created the only RCA+connector on the market with an impedance of 75Ω - which is unique and makes it possible to make a digital cable which is 75Ω throughout! The one+point technique has been expanded to also include the female connectors which have a ground connection consisting of a double spiral. This means a true one-point connection provided that both male and female connectors are of the Nextgen type! Great care has also been taken in the choice of material. Pure copper - not copper alloy! Different kinds of plastic for different parts of the body to prevent deformation due to heat when soldering. Great care must be taken when soldering many other plastic connectors or they may melt. WBT has used one of the most stable and heat resistant (and expensive) plastics available. All parts of the connectors are mounted with a snap-fit system which makes it easy to disassemble the connector before soldering! As usual with WBT the ground connects first - a unique WBT advantage - so you can pull out the connector even if the volume is up (still not recommended though). With other connectors you would get a pulse that could easily destroy your equipment. There is also an outer sleeve that squeezes the the ground connection and holds the connector safely in place. This is purely an extra precaution as the fit and feeling of the Nextgen connectors is like closing the door of a safe... Smack! This outer sleeve must be one of the most copied designs in the world of hifi... Naturally we couldn't listen to the connectors - they are not yet ready for delivery - but it will be most interesting to try them out in "real life"! The construction is really promising and it would surprise me if WBT didn't take a solid lead in the field of RCA connectors!
