A hot tip in audio expert circles is the colouring the CD's edge with a felt tip pen, to absorb the scattered light .
The effect unfortunately doesn't deliver on it's promise.
Green is a complementary colour to the red laser and should bring better results. However, this is often not the case as many lasers work with the infra-red spectrum.

The CD's outer edge is bevelled and works as a trap for the scattered light .

The tuning of a CD with the CD Sound Improver is incredibly easy and takes barely a minute.
The tungsten carbide blade is automatically set at the right angle during manufacture of the unit. Two test CDs are included in the delivered package.
All following CDs are bevelled under exactly the same conditions. Shavings are removed via the vacuum cleaner link.
